Introduction
Founded in Juarez, Mexico in October of 1995 by former Ice Capades skater and now skate director and coach, Lori Briggs, the Sun City Blades are now getting the recognition and respect they deserve. The Sun City Blades Figure Skating Club is recognized by the world organization, Ice Skating Institute.The Club began as an effort to promote figure skating as a sport in the El Paso / Juarez / Las Cruces area. In 1996, the Club moved to El Paso, Texas after Lori Briggs was contacted by the El Paso Buzzards Hockey organization to operate their skating program.
In 2003, the El Paso Buzzards Hockey team went belly up but the Sun City Blades continued to blossom. Today the Club shares the ice with the El Paso Rhinos Hockey Club and enjoys the largest membership in its history.
The Sun City Blades Figure Skating Club is open to people of all ages interested in ice skating. The Club is a non-profit organization.
The Club offers two types of memberships. The Competitive Membership requires participation in club functions, to include but not limited to fund raisers and club meetings. Competitive Membership fee is $10.00 per month or $120.00 per year per family of four.
Additional family members can join for $10.00 each per year. New club memberships are accepted anytime during the year.The Adult Recreational Membership requires no participation in club functions. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. Adult Recreational Membership fee is $35.00 per year.

The Sun City Blades skate out of the Sierra Providence Events Center located on El Paso County Coliseum grounds at 4100 E. Paisano Drive in El Paso, Texas.
